We are pleased that you are interested in the Restorative Nurse Assistant Program at Desert Valley Nursing Institute (DVNI).  The Restorative Nurse Assistant interacts with the residents and provides activities that will aim to improve and maintain function in physical abilities and activities of daily living (ADLs,) and prevent further decline. Restorative Nurse Assistants work closely with Licensed Rehabilitation Therapists to meet the functional goals of care in Skilled Nursing Facilities. 

 

Program Description:  This is a 24 hour program consisting of 16 hours of classroom training and 8 hours of Skills training. This program focuses on Restorative nursing care in the long term care setting. Content includes physical exercise techniques, range of motion exercise, ambulation, splint application, special feeding & communication techniques, and weight monitoring.  The Restorative Nursing Assistant works closely with the Rehabilitation team to foster patient improvement and prevent decline. These hours will serve as continuing education units for CNA/HHA and participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Prerequisite:  Certified Nurse Assistant or completion of CNA Program
